Here’s your house
For the past few years I’ve managed a revolving team of Costa Rican developers for my day job. Tomorrow is my last day doing so, as I’m moving on to another opportunity. It’s bittersweet; I’m excited about what’s to come and I know it’s a better fit for me, but I’ll really miss some of my old coworkers.
Today I sent out an email to my small team that I’ve been managing, just letting them know the plans for the project going forward. I got a few nice responses wishing me well, but one in particular was my favorite. My apologies if he sees this; please know I’m not poking fun, as his English is FAR better than my Spanish will ever be. But here are just a few snippets of his note to me:
Excuse me by my English„,!! … I want to wish you much success with the objectives you plan to do and we are very, very, very saddened with her departure from this company … Remember, here’s your house …!!
Well shucks. It’s funny how a place really does become like home, despite all the frustration, the sighs, the wanting to pull my hair out. I really will miss those guys.
