Things That Ruled My SXSW Interactive
SXSW Interactive is soon coming to a close, and I think we’re all starting to reflect on how awesome it’s been. For me, it was fun to experience another side of SXSW; I attended the music portion in ‘08 but this was my first time attending Interactive. I’ve had a BLAST, learned a ton, and met a load of great people. I’ll be recapping some of the great panels and...

It's a wonderful life.
Some of my favorite artists have killed themselves. Kurt Cobain, Elliott Smith, Vic Chesnutt, and now Mark Linkous. They all sort of had that “tortured artist” thing down pat. It’s what made their music so honest and real.
As a musician, and as someone who once took a personality test that said I’m “drawn to sad things,” I can understand it, sort of. People...

How Twitter and Facebook Make Us More Productive →
Interesting take on how “wasting” time on social media sites can actually make us more productive. I tend to agree, but like everything else, moderation is key.

How I learned to stop worrying and love content... →
For my friends who are wondering what I’m doing now, job-wise, here’s a really good description not only of the Content Strategist role, but also of how one might find herself suddenly immersed in the field. The writer and I have a very similar story!
“A true CS is someone who will go to bat for the site as a whole, and who truly owns its message and its direction. An editor in...

Vieques and the damage done →
I had a long post written about this last night but Tumblr ate it. I’ll keep it short this morning because I haven’t had coffee.
My husband and I went to Vieques last summer. It was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. So beautiful that we made plans to visit again, and when we got home, we began investigating the possibility of buying property there. That’s when we...

Here's your house
For the past few years I’ve managed a revolving team of Costa Rican developers for my day job. Tomorrow is my last day doing so, as I’m moving on to another opportunity. It’s bittersweet; I’m excited about what’s to come and I know it’s a better fit for me, but I’ll really miss some of my old coworkers.
Today I sent out an email to my small team that...

Personality test (i'm the Idealist)
One of the best descriptions of my quirky personality type (INFJ) that I’ve seen in a while. Some of this hits very close to home! Thanks juliepeel:

Musicians - contribute a song and help fight... →
Cancer sucks. I contributed a Good Graces track to this cause today; if you’re a musician then you should too!

My band, The Good Graces is playing a great show in Athens, GA. at great, cozy bar with a great staff, free popcorn, and cheap drinks. What more do you want?

Musical Pairings: Real Estate - self-titled... →
was looking for info on Real Estate (the band, not the, uhm, housing market) and came across this site. Such a neat idea, connecting food + music. Two of my favorite things! Now I’m hungry.

One hand will wash the other... →
Everyone is talking about this today. But it really was that good. I thought it was the Nyquil giving me chills and making me all emotional as I watched it. But as I watch it again today, I’ve got that same feeling.

Project Song w/ Chris Walla and J. Robbins →
This is pretty rad. Two of my favorite musicians (who had never collaborated or even met before) got together for NPR’s “Project Song” and wrote a new tune over two days. It’s cool to watch, and the song is great.

The Dutchess & The Duke — good interview, although the writer seems almost stalker-like. But very revealing. Listen to the two song clips. Good stuff.
